TISS NET 2014-2016 was successfully conducted on December 22, 2013. Unlike last year, when the candidates had the freedom to choose between paper and computer based formats, this year the test was conducted only in the computer based format. Â It was also reported that the questions varied for different candidates. The overall level of difficulty of the test can be said to have risen slightly owing tothe increase in the difficulty level of the General Awareness section, which is likely to bring down the cut-off by a few notches.
The test comprised 95 questions carrying a total of 100 marks. 5 questions (in the English Proficiency section) were of 2 marks each, while the remaining 90 carried a mark each. There was no negative marking in the test and most of the questions were of easy-moderate level of difficulty. Only the section on General Awareness may have troubled the candidates since a lot of Static GK based questions were asked, primarily from History and Geography.
The section-wise analysis of the test is as follows:
TISSNET 2014-16 General Awareness
The toughest of the three, this section can be the decider for many. Unlike last year when the questions were mostly easy and equally split between Static and Current GK, this year the section saw moderate-difficult questions and was quite heavy on Static GK. About 24-25 questions were Static GK based with the remaining 5-6 being based on Current GK. Around16-18 correct attempts in this section can be considered to be good.
TISSNET 2014-16 Mathematics and Logical Reasoning
This section had 35 questions in total and can be called fairly easy.
